Round windows - with circular arch

Round windows can be used as a charming change from regular square windows and to create a beautiful natural light in your home.

What are round windows?

Round windows are chosen for their characteristic round shape, which adds a visually interesting element to your home. At the same time, their shape allows them to be placed in places where it is difficult to place traditional windows.

At Sparwindows, it is possible to buy round windows as side hung windows or fixed frame windows. A side-hung window means that it is hinged on either the left or right side and opens by swinging outwards. Fixed frame windows, on the other hand, are fixed to the frame and cannot be opened at all. When deciding which of these you want, you need to decide whether you need more openable windows in your home or if you just want to increase the amount of light you get into your home.

  • Where are round windows used?

Round windows are most found in the gable or dormer of older homes, such as bricklayers' houses. Therefore, they are often purchased by people who are renovating their home and want to preserve the original look while replacing old windows with windows with doubled or triple glazed glass.

But that doesn't mean that the windows are only used on older style homes. In fact, you can use them on any type of home you want, wherever you want to live. Our windows are made to measure, which means that the possibilities are endless! Often round windows in newer houses are somewhat larger than round windows on the gable of an older villa. This way, you get a good view and a good connection to the outdoor surroundings. At the same time, the round and organic shape of the window blends well with the nature outside.

You have many options with a round window. Depending on the size and position of your round window, you can achieve different looks for your home. Follow your instincts and use it in whatever way suits you and your home - whether it's traditional or modern.

  • Can I use angled windows as an alternative to round windows?

As an alternative to square and round windows, you can choose angled windows. Just like a round window, an angled window with its different shape can offer a visually interesting element to your home. They are often used in the same locations as round windows - on the gable and dormer. Angled windows have the advantage that they can be aligned with the slope of the roof. This makes them particularly useful in homes where you want to maximise the amount of natural light.

However, while round windows are available as both fixed frame and side-hung windows, angled windows are only available as fixed frame windows. Therefore, if you decide in favour of angled window, make sure you don't need a window that can provide ventilation. Otherwise, you can combine it with some of our other openable windows.
